HAPPY BIRTHDAy1 Comment

We received this amazing card for our daughter’s birthday – created by her 12 year old cousin Harry. I think it’s 3D, need to get some glasses. I also think it’s brilliant. I’d love to go to wherever it is – a floating sky island in a future time-scape solid square tetris clouds…It could be the set of Blade Runner 2. I also love the way the cyan in cartridge ran out half way over.

2 BIT COLLAGE2 Comments

I’m making experiments with two found images. Two only. It cuts the fat off everything and intensifies the relationship. I like incongruity between the bits too, that helps, and invites the viewer to make their own connections.

I’ve got some Wholesale lifestyle goods catalogues from Hong Kong – 1983. I’m rifling through for a job. Just found this full page Ad from Romtec Enterprises Ltd. Mustn’t have even had the prototype ready so went with this sublime pencil drawing. Wonder how many they shifted? Amazing.

Reg Perfect & The Squeegees. The Portman Gallery, London. July 2009.

This show was a tribute to the memory of Chris Plowman. A much loved printmaking teacher at the RCA who invented the mythical band Reg Perfect & The Squeegees. A screenprinting in-joke. The idea was to bring the fictitional band to life with a show, live performances and accompanying record sleeves, posters, tshirts and promotional ephemera. 25 Artists were involved. I created this series of A1 posters. Collage elements included cuttings from the work of God & Co. Francois Dallegret. Palais – Metro. 1972. And Einar Thorensteinn. The show was curated by Leigh Clarke. Catch some of Reg’s performance here.
